Session Report #5
The Party with replacement members decides they must put an end to these Ogres once and for all so having returned to Diserth they go about recruiting a small force of mercenaries (about a dozen in total) and pick up a higher level PC named Alfonso who had not been able to play in a while.
The group quick marches west and decides they will try to pull the ogres out by sending a man on horse as bait. However the 2 Ogres wizened by the previous theft of their things that happened decided to make their defense in their hole. They proceed to chuck a few things out at the antagonizing party member and the party thinks they can draw them out still by taking these things and besmirching the greedy nature of Ogres. However when they do that one of the Ogres shouts "I got all I need right here" and grabs its partner. These two ogre lovers only seek to possess one another. Another player has an idea to egg them on to fight by insulting one of them calling them all sorts of foul names to which the other ogre replies "All True and all mine" they will not be deterred from their hill.
Seeing they could not pull them out one PC Dorgas still trying to gather an Ogre's tooth as part of a boast decides to lead the heavier armored mercenaries on a flanking mission to climb the hill so they can attack down into the hole. This finally prompts the ogres out of the hole and they attempt to take the high ground of the hilltop which prompts the archers characters and mercenaries to move into range and start peppering the 2 ogres severely injuring one before flung objects hurled by ogre strength kill a thegn, 2 mercenaries, and injure a third.
At this point the footmen are climbing the hill and the ogres are turning their attention to them when a pair of really good shots from Alfonso and Gwydion leads to the rapid death of the larger of the two ogres choking on its own face bones. Smashed by a sling.
This throws the remaining ogre into a rage much to the dismay of Dorgas and the footmen that had just managed to reach the hilltop (a difficult climb) as she grabs up two of them and proceeds to leap from the hill into the still struggling to climb footmen below. The weight of her mass kills the footman outright and knocks Dorgas out for the fight and barely phases herself but the next round sees a moral check that the mercenaries pass without fail and then some excellent rolling and the ogre soon follows her lover into death.
Gwydion by now mounted on a horse gallops hard for Dorgas and uses bandages to heal him restoring him to health. Though battered and bruised.
Standing victorious the group gathers up their wounded and dead and the healthy men use tools to dismantle the hill gathering all remaining treasure leaving the group a little richer over all and marching back to Diserth in good spirits. A bit better for the ordeal overall and ready to try again to set out to Caernfan.
